About Me

Before coming to counselling, I worked as a Software Engineer. The job gave me an analytical, thorough approach to problem-solving. I found myself increasingly motivated to understand interactions between people in the workplace. As a result, I began to move into the field of counselling in 2007, as a volunteer Support Worker with Off-The-Record, a Portsmouth-based charity which offers counselling and help to young people aged 11-25. In 2010, I obtained a Diploma with Distinction in Humanistic Counselling and in 2013 I obtained a 1st Class Honours degree in Humanistic Counselling from the highly regarded Department of Psychology and Counselling at the University of Chichester.

My extensive experience in the technical (abstract, analytical) and therapeutic (focusing on people) spheres of work gives me a unique way of working with you therapeutically and/or as a trainer. Specifically, I invite you to exercise the whole of your awareness in considering your problems. Correspondingly, I will help you find solutions which intuitively feel right for you.

My philosophy of therapy and training is underpinned by the following Humanistic beliefs:

1.I believe all people have inherent worth and deserve respect.

2.I believe people have an innate tendency towards growth change and realising their potential.

3.I believe people are naturally creative and unique.

4.I consider all aspects of the human psyche have potential to be a resource.

5.I aim to create an environment which facilitates hope, possibility, autonomy, resilience and personal/professional transformation.

6.I seek a way of being that ensures relational depth in the 'here and now'.

7.I embrace the diverse range of Humanistic therapeutic approaches that are based on these philosophies.

My experience has shown that my philosophy can help you to relax and take as much time as you need to think about your problems and possible solutions.
